The end of an era.
I am so excited that we have returned to A Piece of My Heart after all of these months, and can still pull it off just as well as we did in November. Kameron mentioned that it's like "coming home," which I believe sums up this feeling perfectly. There is one show tonight (a benefit performance to raise money for Internationals), and our final performance will be this summer in Lincoln, Nebraska.
And then, the seniors are completely FINISHED. Hard to believe it's been four years of non-stop Tomball STAGE. Not going to lie, I'm kind of ready to move on. But the funny thing is, when it's all said and done, I am not going to know what to do with myself!
Sixty days.
Well, this means a couple things:
1.) My life is about to become a whole lot busier, if that's even possible. April is going to kick my butt (with the continuation of Blood Wedding competitions, the resurrection of A Piece of My Heart, the beginning of AP Economics test tutoring sessions, and so much more).
2.) Though I can't wait for this year to be over, I have a feeling I'm going to miss some of it after I leave. Therefore, I'm trying my best to appreciate everything in my life at this moment and to make the best of my last high school experiences. Speaking of which—
3.) Prom is coming up real soon. And the ballgown dress I really wanted cannot be found anywhere. But luckily, there is another one that I am absolutely in love with, and it just happened to be in my size! It's completely different than what I had in mind, but after trying it on, I decided that it was perfect. (Instead of describing it, I'll post pictures after the big weekend—surprises are better, anyway.)
I know that the end is near, but I'm struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hurry up, June 5th.
A sad confession.
I've been reading so many posts by a few of my favorite bloggers (Michelle, Olivia, Natalie) that have to do with cooking/baking delicious foods of all kinds. And, let me tell you, the growing desire to grab an apron and start making something of my own has become quite overwhelming.
But I have a tiny confession to make: I've never cooked anything in my life. Well, unless you count grilled cheese.
And I'm a tad bit ashamed. I mean, here I am, just about ready to leave the nest and embark on womanhood, and I still have yet to learn how to make something as simple as pasta! Which is ridiculous, if you ask me, considering that my mom (poor heart) has tried again and again to teach me the ways of the kitchen... But what can I say? It's just never been my thing.
However, that is going to change. I solemnly swear that I will learn to cook, even if it is the last thing I do. God, help us all.

My very own Winter Wonderland.
Photo from a baking session back in December that reminded me of snow flurries.
Let's go kick some Hunny buns!
Hearts and roses.
I had a wonderful Valentine's Day, filled with colorful roses and heart-shaped desserts. Most single girls hate this romantic holiday, but I've always looked forward to it! I guess it's because V-Day gives me an excuse to eat chocolate and watch romantic movies all day long, which happen to be two of my favorite activities. However, this year I had the pleasure of throwing a party for my best girlfriends instead.
I hope yours was just as lovely!
Not Ali!
Ugh, tonight's episode of The Bachelor revealed that Ali made the decision to leave the show so she wouldn't lose her job in San Francisco. Such a sad episode, if you ask me. I really liked Ali. And I'm willing to bet she would have been the last one standing if it weren't for her stupid job dilemma.
Now with Ali gone, three girls are left in the running.
The question is, which girl will win Jake's heart?
Dun Dun Dun.
Okay, in reality, The Bachelor is probably the silliest television show I've ever seen. I mean, seriously. Who can truly fall in love with that many people at once? And in such a small amount of time? It's no wonder only one couple from the show is still together today. I'll never understand it, but my mom and I sure enjoy watching it. Guilty pleasure of choice!
A tribute to Emilia.
Gammy (my dad's mom) recently sent me an old photograph of my great-grandmother, Emilia Alleman, the wonderful woman who I was named after. She passed away when I was young, but I remember sitting on her lap during Christmastime and visiting her at the nursing home whenever we could. We all referred to her as Mom-mom, because she was the mother that created our big three-generation family, beginning with my Pappy (my dad's dad).
Mom-mom absolutely adored spending time with ALL of her children, and I don't ever remember seeing her without a smile on her face. I miss her very much, and I just wish that I would have gotten to know her better before she passed away.
I've been told tons of stories about my great-grandparents, some happy and some sad, but all fascinating. From what I've heard, Emilia had a very hard life, but it is clear that she was a beautiful woman of God who loved her family with all of her heart. I have no doubt that they are with the Lord in Heaven right now, looking down at their babies, happy as can be. I only hope I will get to see both Mom-mom and Pop-pop again someday, so that they themselves might share with me their incredible life stories.
